Why Pot Farm?

Welcome to The Pot Farm Blog! This Blog will feature posts on random topics selected each week, or whatever. Including some appearances by the Pot Farm developers themselves!

But now, even more than cute stoned bunnies - here are some reasons that I think Pot Farm kicks other games in the ass.

My # 1 top reason: the feeling of discovery never goes away. The feeling of discovery started right after I played through my first tutorial on level 1. Nothing was straightforward. It was super unclear which items would be most optimal to place on my farm. I had no idea that I could get three Pot Bucks if I planted four hemp after the Tutorial! These sound like bad things but I swear I'm getting to a good point.

The more I kept playing the more I realized that it was actually fun to not have everything spelled out. I had decisions to make and the freedom to choose how I played. I've been a casual and social gamer for a while and I've definitely noticed the new user experience in some games feels boxed in. I don't want to just be able to play for x amount of time, level up X levels and earn X points. I want to feel like I'm able to get away with something if I put the time into learning how the game works.. I need to feel like I'm exploiting the game to get all I can out of it.

When there are no perceived "flaws" or a game feels too polished (aka. there are no dirty little secrets) it gets boring! In Pot Farm I can maximize my level up, I can know more everyday, learn which plants are best to plant on weekends when my play sessions are longer, all sorts of stuff.

I guess that's why we have such a kick-ass community here at Pot Farm. When you have so many options you need help strategizing. I've definitely been made fun of by players because of my plant selection at times. It's true, I once sent someone a fir tree. lol. But that's kind of the fun in it. Often times the players get to be the Gurus and I as the Community Manager may not know something that you do. Pot Farm will challenge you at times and you will hate/love that.

In the end, the game is simply fun. You have the ability to become a strategic Pot-Growing Trash-Talking Ninja while running from the law and laughing your ass off the whole way. And trust me, there are many ways to advance in Pot Farm that are not automatically evident within the game or even posted on the Fan Page so never stop looking ;) Anyone who knows the satisfaction of cracking a good riddle or finishing a puzzle know that the human mind wants to think and be challenged.

Okay, I leave you with the first ever Tip-o'-The-Week!

TIP o' the week:

To upgrade a Hydroponic Shack in Pot Farm you do not need to have 1 billion dollars.

First when you buy or earn your Hydroponic shack it is not yet ready to plant in. This is why when you hover over it it will show up as "Hydroponic Shack Upgradeable". To learn how to upgrade you'll need to click on the shack to see what the requirements are. The requirements for a shack are: 5 Charcoal Filters, 5 Fans, 5 Generators and 5 Grow Lights.

BEFORE MOOCHING and BEFORE BUYING any of these items, go into your message centre and check to see if you have already been gifted some of the items needed to upgrade your Shack. Be sure to accept those gifts if you have any.

Now go into your gift box and click USE on the items so they will be sent to your stash and count toward the requirement. ONLY ITEMS THAT ARE IN YOUR STASH will count toward an upgrade!

If you buy the necessary items from the pop-up page, they will immediately go into your stash and be updated on your hydro requirements.

If you have everything you need in your stash (5 Charcoal Filters, 5 Fans, 5 Generators and 5 Grow Lights) then click the shack to see the pop-up window and click the "upgrade" button. If you can't click "Upgrade" this means you still need to mooch/purchase the required items or that you have not sent them properly to your Stash. Remember to click "Use" to have them count! Once your hydro is Upgraded, all of the items will be removed from your Stash..

Now click on your hydro one final time. It will ask you to either Invite 5 Friends to check out Pot Farm or "Hire" 5 fictional characters to help you complete the project. If you choose to Invite friends you must wait for them to confirm in order to Finish the building. Hiring fictional characters will register right away but cost 1 Pot Buck.

Once you have either successfully invited 5 people or Hired 5 characters, click "Do it!" to finish your hydro.

Now that your hydro is built you can start to plant! You can select a plant from the shop and then click on your hydro to confirm your decision or if you have not already selected a plant you can just click the hydro and the shop will open. Fortunately, you will always be given the option to confirm your purchase, even if it is a coin plant!
